Lg. Dwarf Puerto Rican Plantain (musa sp)

$32.79

Dwarf Puerto Rican Plantain is a fast-producing, compact plantain variety valued for its sturdy structure and generous yields. Reaching approximately 6 feet in height, it offers the productivity of a larger plantain in a more manageable form.
This variety produces large hands of fruit, typically bearing seven to nine full hands per bunch. The individual plantains are slightly larger than many standard types, making them especially useful for traditional cooking applications.
The thick, shortened pseudostem provides improved wind resistance and helps prevent the plant from toppling under the weight of heavy fruit during storms. Widely grown in Puerto Rico, it is appreciated for ease of harvest, reliable production, and excellent cooking qualities. Best grown in full sun with consistent moisture and nutrient-rich, well-draining soil, it performs well in USDA Zones 8–11 with protection in cooler areas.
