Lg. Sweet Tamarind Tree (tamarindus indica)

$35.99

Tamarind, Tamarindus indica, is a long-lived tropical tree valued for its graceful form and flavorful pods. It can reach 40 to 70 feet tall with a broad canopy and strong, wind-resistant branches that arch gently at the tips.
The bright green, feathery foliage gives the tree a soft appearance, while small yellow flowers with red or orange streaks add seasonal interest. The cinnamon-brown pods contain a tart, sticky pulp surrounding the seeds. When ripe, the brittle shell cracks easily, making the pulp simple to remove.
Tamarind thrives in full sun and well-drained soil in USDA Zones 10 to 11, offering shade, ornamental beauty, and a uniquely tangy harvest.
